The Long & Winding Musical Journey of Steve Felix

My musical story
Music has been an extremely important part of my life. Like many of my generation, The Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan TV Show in 1964 was the catalyst to get into rock ‘n roll.
The Better Half was the first band I played in. It was based in Livingston, NJ and played a lot of non-Top 40 hits and was pretty popular.
After that I formed a band of my own called ‘Felix’ which played gigs focused on the Fairleigh Dickinson University (where I went) social world.
In the late 1960’s, I met a band, by chance, called Everyone which was based in Jersey City, NJ. I auditioned and was invited to join the band. It was 5 people and 5 voices that did a great assortment of songs that not too many, perhaps no other bands, were doing in those days.
Over the years, I continued to be in bands wherever I lived – NJ, CA, NY.
I had started writing songs in the late 1960’s but it wasn’t until 2003 when I finally decided I had waited long enough and focused on getting enough tunes to record an album.
My first album, ‘felix…finally’, as in ‘I finally did it’, was released in late 2006. That project was a fund-raiser for a Chicago-based non-profit called ‘Keys-4-Kids’ that my son Brian and his then girlfriend, now wife Bridget and her brother Pat were involved with. The project raised $50,000 for the non-profit.
That album was recorded in Chicago, produced by my son Brian and featuring a terrific bunch of Chicago musicians.
I continued writing and in 2012 recorded ‘Wait for Me’, also in Chicago.
Then, in 2019, ‘Shoot for the Moon’ was released featuring collaborations with both my sons Brian and Kevin and recorded in Asheville, NC – again with some incredible musicians.
Over the years, I’ve been told by some folks that they could definitely see some of my songs being appropriate for some recording artist, but I’ve never done anything, until now, to attempt to promote my songs.
That idea led to the creation of this website.
Most of my songs are available on Spotify, Apple Music and Pandora under the name ‘Steve Felix & Friends.’
I’d appreciate you listening and, if you like one, and have any connection with a recording artist who you feel might be interested in a song of mine, please take the initiative to contact them (or their agent or attorney) with a link to that particular song.
As I write this, in the fall of 2024, I am continuing work on my fourth album called ‘You Never Know.’ And, as far as you helping me promote my songs, well, ‘You Never Know’ 😊
Thanks a lot!
Steve
if you know anyone that has connections with recording artists feel free to send them that link that you feel would they be most interested in. I’d be forever grateful!
